Amy said she and Chris decided to officially change the name they'd picked out for their boy after realizing it sounded so much like 'Genital'.

The pair had named their boy after Amy's close friend and fellow comic Dave Attell. From now on Gene Attell will go by the name of Gene David to avoid any weirdness. Amy explained: "Do you guys know that Gene, our baby’s name is officially changed?"

"It’s now Gene David Fischer. It was Gene Attell Fischer, but we realised that we, by accident, named our son 'Genital'."

Fellow guest Claudia O'Doherty admitted that she had made the observation but hadn't told Amy to her face. "My mum pointed that out to me, "'my’s called her son 'Genital', and she was right!'" laughed Claudia.

Amy's pal Dave Attell, who inspired her son's name, had starred alongside her in hit movie Trainwreck as the homeless man living outside her apartment. Its believed Gene's first name is a tribute to late actor Gene Wilder.

Amy Schumer and her husband had their first son a year after their wedding in 2018 in Malibu.
