Bea Alonzo is leading a charity drive to provide medical equipment for frontliners during the coronavirus pandemic.
On Instagram on Saturday, Bea Alonzo shared photos of her and her friends while creating do-it-yourself face shields made out of foam, acetate and garter.
The improvised equipment was made possible by donations to I AM HOPE ORG, a group Alonzo co-founded with her friends.
“It’s hump day for I AM HOPE ORG. today because it’s our first repacking day at our headquarters! Maliit na tulong ito kumpara sa ginagawa para sa atin ng ating magigiting na frontliners,” she wrote before calling them the real life heroes.
Aside from making face shields, Alonzo is also set to distribute 100 gallons of ethyl alcohol.
The group will also be providing other needs of frontliners such as food, personal protective equipment (PPE), vitamins and medical equipment, among others.
As of Sunday, the Philippines has recorded 152 deaths out of 3,246 cases of COVID-19. Sixty-four patients have so far recovered.
