Big Hit Entertainment responded to rumors about their acquisition of Pledis Entertainment.
Earlier today, a news outlet reported that Big Hit Entertainment had finished signing all contracts related to the acquisition of Pledis. They reported that all the details were ironed out, the contracts were all finished, and that only the official announcement was remaining.
However, Big Hit said, "We are always open to new opportunities, but there is nothing decided right now."
News of the merger between the two companies first appeared in January this year. But at that time, both sides denied it. Until February, SEVENTEEN's joining the Weverse community platform as the move reinforces rumors. In contrast, Big Hit only stated: "We will collaborate with more domestic and foreign artists, the first case is SEVENTEEN."
Pledis was founded in 2010 by CEO Han Seung Soo, former manager of female singer BoA in the early 2000s at SM Entertainment. The company once molded Son Dam Bi, After School, PRISTIN, SEVENTEEN, and NU’EST.
