Actress Maris Racal on Friday announced a milestone in a fundraiser she is spearheading for the benefit of hospitals in her hometown of Tagum City in Davao del Norte, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The "Pamilya Ko" star launched the project, dubbed "Agbay Tagum," last March 26, with a plea to help address the shortage of personal protective equipment for healthcare workers there.

"I know these are tough times and we have to save money as much as possible, but I am humbly asking those who have more than enough to help us... Every peso counts," she said at the time.

As of April 1, Agbay Tagum has raised more then P600,000, according to Racal.

"Thank you to the donors, this will greatly help our frontliners in Tagum City. But we need more help as we want to reach more hospitals. If you want to help, know that we are still accepting donations," she said.

Racal, 22, joins a growing list of celebrities who have been participating or leading fundraising projects to aid vulnerable sectors or frontline workers amid the coronavirus crisis.
