Conan O’brien‘s chat show will return on March 30, 2020, with episodes filmed remotely on an iPhone to comply with California’s self-isolation measures designed to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

The comedian’s show, Conan, will return on America’s TBS after a planned hiatus without an audience, and with guest interviews being filmed via video chat.

Production staff will also remain working from home to protect their health, as Los Angeles, where the show is filmed, is under lockdown to slow the spread of the virus.

Conan executive producer Jeff Ross said in a press statement: “Our first priority is the health and well-being of everyone in the Team Coco family, and our second priority is to try and find a way that we can do our jobs safely, from home, and contribute some entertainment for our fans out there who may be hungry for silly distraction.

Joking about the difficulties of working remotely, Conan added: “The quality of my work will not go down because technically that’s not possible.

Conan has been on hiatus since Tuesday, but the funnyman has been filming short videos aiming to entertain people in self-isolation and has released a special “quarantine” edition of his Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast.
