“Their friendship is pure and genuine.”

Selena Gomez recently released her documentary, My Mind & Me, which the singer bravely shared to show the raw, harsh realities of stardom and her struggles with her health.

"After years in the limelight, Selena Gomez achieves unimaginable stardom. But just as she reaches a new peak, an unexpected turn pulls her into darkness. This uniquely raw and intimate documentary spans her six-year journey into a new light." — Apple TV+

The documentary seems to have been largely met with empathy from fans, who applaud Selena Gomez’s bravery in releasing the film and praise the singer for her incredible work ethic.

But what BLACKPINK fans watching the documentary didn’t expect was a subtle nod at Selena Gomez and BLACKPINK’s iconic collaboration, “Ice Cream.”

Both BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez have spoken up about how well they got along while working on the collaboration, which they had to do over video chat because of the pandemic.

"It was a learning process because the language was new, but somehow our distinct styles, along with their energy, we just fit together perfectly. The BLACKPINK girls were so welcoming. We had an absolute blast while working on the song over FaceTime!" — Selena Gomez

"We had video chats a few times, and she’s really nice. She gave me, she gave us, a positive energy." — Lisa

Lisa even suggested that they should collaborate again in the future.

"And I really want to see her again. If I can work with her again, I would love to." — Lisa

But despite how well the artists get along, BLACKPINK fans were surprised when they spotted what appears to be BLACKPINK’s light stick in the documentary.

Although the box is too far away to confirm that it’s for BLACKPINK’s light stick, fans feel confident.

And fans were excited to see another Selena Gomez and BLACKPINK interaction.

Although some fans pointed out that the scene in the documentary was from an office meeting reportedly at Interscope, who also works with BLACKPINK…

Fans are still taking it as a win and hoping that Selena Gomez and BLACKPINK can do a live performance together of “Ice Cream” in the future, especially since BLACKPINK are currently on their world tour.
