LE SSERAFIM onlyrecently announced their official new fandom name, but theories already abound, including one particularly fascinating one which the members themselves may have been hinting at.

On August 7, LE SSERAFIM revealed that their fandom will now officially be called “FEARNOT.”
In a statement, the group’s managing label, Source Music, explained the sweet meaning behind the name.
“FEARNOT,” which is a homonym of “blooming” in Korean, carries a meaning that LE SSERAFIM marching forward fearlessly and fans who do “not fear” loving and supporting LE SSERAFIM come together to “bloom” every new moment. — Source Music
While there are some fans who find the name slightly disappointing, its reception has been largely positive, particularly given its spelling in Hangeul, which spells “bloom” or “to bloom.”
Additionally, fans have been enjoying the connection of the fandom name to Sakura‘s, as they seem to share a meaning!

Of course, they’ve also been having some good-natured fun with it…

…but one detail has gotten the attention of many. Some fans intriguingly pointed out that the words “Fear Not” are exactly what angels often say in stories.

Not only that, but the group’s name itself, LE SSERAFIM, sounds a lot like the word, “seraphim,” which refers to angels.

This possibly implies that LE SSERAFIM are like fans’ guardian angels, which is why they will call them by saying “fear not.”
And coincidentally, LE SSERAFIM’s recent July photoshoot with DAZED Korea saw them dress up as angels!
All this means that the name “FEARNOT” not only has an adorable meaning in Korean (“bloom”), but it is also potentially a lovely allusion to LE SSERAFIM’s hope of being there to help and protect their fans.
While not everyone can possibly be satisfied with the name, it really does seem like the members and their staff put a lot of thought into making a name that would hold special meaning!
