Forbes Reveals the Highest-Earning K-Pop Idols on YouTube in 2021

On December 12, Forbes announced the top ten highest-earning K-pop idols and groups on the YouTube platform. YouTube has risen to be one of the biggest social media platforms today, and nearly all K-pop artists release exclusive content and music videos on the platform. Therefore, it is no surprise that YouTube has helped the reputation of K-pop groups and allowed them to become more popular.

YouTube is also a platform in which K-pop artists earn a massive amount of income for the content posted. With that, Forbes has rounded up the top-earning K-pop idols on the platform this year.

BTS's YouTube channel ranks in number one, "BANGTAN TV." According to Forbes, the channel earned $16.5 million for the group in 2021. The channel has over 61 million subscribers and has over 1,000 videos, with many being vlogs and exclusive content from the boys. In addition, their channel never fails to upload funny moments, stage fan cams and other content for ARMYs.

This is the third time BTS has ranked number one on the Forbes list. BTS most likely maintained their spot thanks to the success of their English releases this year, namely "Butter," "Permission to Dance" and "My Universe" with Coldplay. Them holding on to this spot for another year just shows how popular the seven members of BTS are!

The highest-earning girl group is BLACKPINK, who ranked at number two this year. According to Forbes, BLACKPINK's official YouTUbe channel earned $11.6 million. BLACKPINK's YouTube channel has over 70 million subscribers, making them the most-subscribed to musical act on the platform.
