On July 9, K-Pop Radar released their monthly charts for June, and K-pop groups including MONSTA X, BTS, TWICE, EXO, BLACKPINK, and more dominated the rankings in each category!
K-Pop Radar's PICK: MONSTA X Hailed as "Artist of the Month" for June 2021
For June, MONSTA X was once again selected as K-Pop Radar's "Artist of the Month," proving that they are one of the representative groups of third-gen K-pop.
According to the fandom data platform, "MONSTA X's "GAMBLER" music video surpassed 5 million views in nine hours and exceeded 10 million views in 20 hours."
MONSTA X, who just released its ninth mini-album last month, broke its own record by hitting 197,000 copies in its first week. In addition to album sales, MONSTA X's official Instagram followers have increased by 112,000 over the past month as well, surpassing a cumulative of 5.8 million.
Furthermore, MONSTA X's Twitter followers also surpassed 4.7 million, showing steady growth even in their seventh year of debut. The increase in the group's Spotify followers which is currently at 3.5 million is solid proof of their global popularity, too.
K-Pop Radar added, "It took 50 hours for "Love Killa," which was released in November 2020 to reach 10 million views, but "GAMBLER" achieved 10 million views in just 20 hours," highlighting a 2.5 times growth compared to their previous record.
Based on the analysis of the platform, Mexico, United States, Brazil, and Argentina are the most contributor countries to MONSTA X's YouTube views. This is also a clear sign that the group is truly becoming massive in America aside from Korea.
BTS, MONSTA X, BLACKPINK Reigned in K-Pop Radar's Monthly Social Charts + Top 3 Most Viewed MVs for June 2021
Aside from the "Artist of the Month," title, MONSTA X also secured the top spot for the groups with most fan cafe followers for June, with a 4,511 follow increase. Next is ATEEZ at No. 2, THE BOYZ at No.3, ASTRO at No. 4, and Lim Young Woong at No. 5
Meanwhile, the global group BTS sits atop the K-pop groups with the most Twitter and Instagram followers. Over the month, they saw an increase of 1.1 million and 2.1 million followers on its social media accounts, respectively. ENHYPEN, TXT, NCT Dream, and EXO trailed behind as second to fifth places.
Moreover, BTS's "Butter" topped the YouTube view chart this month with 135,279,618 views, followed by TWICE's "Alcohol-Free" and EXO's "DON'T FIGHT THE FEELING"– entering second and third, in order.
Lastly, BLACKPINK members including Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé, occupied the rankings from second to fifth places for K-pop artists who gained the most Instagram followers last June.
