The main vocalist of a K-Pop group is typically the member (or members that get the most lines in the group’s songs. While this role often goes to an older member of a group, there are a number of maknaes (the youngest member of a K-Pop group) that have this position as their title!

The following 6 idols are some of the most well-known main vocalist maknaes, and they’re all incredibly gifted with their voices.

1. Jungkook (BTS)

Jongho was born on October 12, 2000, meaning he hasn’t even yet reached his 20th birthday! Despite his age, however, this maknae and main vocalist is known to be the power vocalist of the group, and often has the majority of the group’s lines in their songs, which is well-deserved!

3. Kyuhyun (Super Junior)

BTS shared a fun performance of “Dynamite” on “America’s Got Talent”! The group previously announced that they would be returning to the NBC show as part of their promotions for their English-language single “Dynamite.” BTS previously performed “IDOL” on the show in 2018. On September 16 at 8 p.m. ET (September 17 at 9 a.m. KST), “America’s Got Talent” aired their second semifinal results. BTS appeared as guest performers. In a fun “one-take” format, the members hang out at a retro-themed amusement park in matching costumes and perform their new single. The performance appears to have been filmed at Everland, a major theme park in South Korea. Earlier this month, “Dynamite” made history by charting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, the highest position for an all-South Korean group. It extended that record by topping the chart for a second consecutive week and stayed strong in its third week in the No. 2 position. Check out the performance below!-3

Born on February 3, 1988, Kyuhyun is (barely!) the oldest maknae on this list at 32 years old, but he’s also one of the idols most renowned for his voice.

Though he’s the youngest member in Super Junior, Kyuhyun is considered by many to be one of the most talented vocalists in the K-Pop industry, and it’s easy to see why! He has such a lovely, soothing, melodious voice that seems effortless for him to control.

4. Yoon (WINNER)

Born on January 21, 1994, Seungyoon is 26 years old and thus the youngest member of WINNER. Incredibly, along with being the maknae and the main vocalist, he’s also the leader of the group, which is unusual for the youngest member! It’s well-deserved, though, given his talent and skills which include songwriting and composing.

5. Chan (A.C.E)

Chan was born on December 31, 1997, making him 22 years old and the youngest member of A.C.E. In a group with such multi-talented members, his voice still manages to stand out, which is why he’s also the main vocalist of the group! Like the rest of the members, of course, he’s also an incredible dancer, making him very multi-talented as the second youngest mankae on this list!

6. Changmin (TVXQ)

Even before TVXQ became a duo, Changmin was still the youngest in the group out of their original 5 members, born on February 18, 1988, making him 32 years old. Now, he’s younger than fellow member U-Know, and also the main vocalist of the duo. He has a very rich and powerful voice, so it’s no wonder that he was chosen for that role!
