AppleTV+ officially announced the production of the drama 'Pachinko' and named actor Lee Min Ho on the first line of the cast.
The drama is based on a best-selling novel of the same name written by Korean-American author Lee Min Jin. It is global project produced by global cast members from South Korea, Japan and the United States and conducted in three languages: Korean, Japanese and English.
'Pachinko' will have a total of eight episodes featuring individual stories penetrated by history on a vast scale through four generations of a Korean immigrant family. It is a global masterpiece and is planning to shoot in Canada, starting with the Korean cast on October 26.
Actor Lee Min Ho, who was the first to be named on the casting board of 'Pachinko', will play 'Mozasu', a merchant who has built up wealth and power with ties to Yakuza (Japanese gangsters). He plays an important role in the context of the story as an opportunist faithful to his desires, a as well as a mysterious person who pursues a forbidden love, drawing keen attention.
The fact that AppleTV+, which has a worldwide distribution network including the entire United States, deals with the hard lives of Korean immigrants who moved to Korea and the United States after the Japanese colonial period, is impressive.
