Finally, Shin Min Ah reunited with Yoo Jae Suk after 6 years in the variety show appearance and they talk about her concerns, regrets,...etc.
On the September 23 broadcast of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block,” the actress appeared as a guest and joined hosts Jo Se Ho and Yoo Jae Suk.
Yoo Jae Suk said, “I met Shin Min Ah six years ago. I can’t remember if I spoke to her formally or informally back then because it’s been so long.”
When Shin Min Ah appeared on set, Yoo Jae Suk remarked, “I saw her six years ago on ‘Running Man.'” He then asked, “Have you appeared on any variety shows after that?”
Shin Min Ah confirmed that she hasn’t and explained, “People who know me personally say that I’m funny, but when I’m on TV, it doesn’t really show.”
Yoo Jae Suk said, “There’s something that I ask when celebrities guest on this show. Is this ‘You Quiz on the Block’ appearance your own decision or the film company’s?”
Shin Min Ah, whose film “Diva” hit theaters on the day of the broadcast, responded, “I thought about appearing on other variety shows, but I felt pressured to be funny, and I got really nervous.” The actress shared that she has always liked “You Quiz on the Block” and felt like she could be comfortable on the show.
Yoo Jae Suk wondered whether Shin Min Ah’s thoughts and concerns have changed as she got older. Shin Min Ah said, “I think my concerns are changing. I’d say my teens and 20s seemed very important to me. I felt pressured to really do something.”
Shin Min Ah had mentioned in an interview with the show’s production team that her 30s felt a bit different. “Any path in a certain direction seemed too long and far, so even though I’d be feeling impatient, I think I started throwing away the things that I needed to let go of or keep,” she said. “I thought to myself, ‘This is just greed,’ and after letting go of those things, I felt more relaxed and grateful.”
Yoo Jae Suk asked Shin Min Ah if she’s ever regretted her work as an actress. She responded, “I didn’t have a school life like everyone else because I started working at a young age. That’s what I regret.”
She continued, “When I think about my younger self as I worked with adults, I think I was deprived of something back then.”
Yoo Jae Suk empathized with her, saying, “You had to act like an adult even though you were young.” He also shared, “Unfortunately, I spent four years at college as a freshman and dropped out. When I look back on it, I feel regretful thinking about what it would’ve been like to spend time with friends during my school days.”
