BTS Jungkook is the Most Searched K-Pop Idol for the First Half of 2021
According to data from Google Trends from January 1 to June 28, 2021, BTS Jungkook is the most searched male idol on Google worldwide, with a search index of 600.
Jungkook has ranked at number one for three consecutive years, starting in 2019 and maintaining his spot in 2020.
Additionally, Jungkook was the most searched for K-pop idols on YouTube in 2-019 and 2020. On Tumblr, Jungkook ranked first on the platform's "Top K-Pop Stars" list for three consecutive years. Jungkook also holds the record for most retweeted tweet of 2019 and the 2nd most retweeted tweet of 2020.
Jungkook set a new all-time record in March for the most real-time viewers in a live stream on V Live. His solo broadcast had surpassed 22 million viewers. He first broke this record in October 2018, when his solo live stream reached 3.7 million viewers.
BLACKPINK Lisa is the Most Searched Female K-Pop Idol For the First Half of 2021
Lisa is the highest-ranking female idol on Google Trend's list, ranking at number five with a search index of 300. Coincidentally, Lisa ranked at number five in last year's mid-year chart as well, solidifying herself as K-pop's most famous female idol at the moment.
Additionally, Lisa is the most followed K-pop idol on Instagram. She is the first and only K-pop idol to hit 50 million followers on the platform. The Thai idol continues to break the engagement and follower count records on the social media medium.
According to the "2021 Overseas Korean Wave Survey" held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, Lisa is one of the most popular K-pop singers internationally. She ranked on the survey alongside G-Dragon, IU, PSY, BLACKPINK, and More.
