When it comes to one of the nicest, most talented, and most loved idols in K-Pop, IU is definitely one person who is always at the top of the list. Since debuting, IU has wowed netizens with her beautiful singing, charming personality, and unreal stage presence, even as a soloist.
Recently, the idol went viral after her true personality shined with gifts given to the girl group ITZY.
Earlier in the month, IU took over the internet when she made history as the first female idol to perform at Jamsil Olympic Stadium. During the shows, IU played to sold-out crowds for her The Golden Hour shows and truly captured the hearts of everyone watching.
Like every IU show, the soloist had special guests for each of her shows, and on the first night, netizens were treated to special performances by ITZY.
After their performances, IU couldn’t stop praising the group, explaining how not only had the members canceled schedules to be there but also how grateful she was to the group.
When the show had finished, member Chaeryoung revealed that IU had specially prepared each person in the group a special gift and wrote them a handwritten letter to showcase how grateful she was for their performance.
Initially, the idols didn’t reveal anything about the gifts, but it seems like IU’s true personality was shared after fans found out about the gifts for Yeji and Ryujin.
On September 25, the group returned from promotions in Japan to Korea. As expected, the members all gained attention for their dazzling visuals and how they greeted fans.
Yet, it was the bags that Ryujin and Yeji were carrying that really caught the attention of fans. Ryujin was seen wearing a beautiful black Yves Saint Laurent bag…
While Yeji had a cute cream Gucci drawstring bag with a logo pattern and the iconic brand colors.
According to fans, the bags worn by the two members of ITZY were actually a gift from IU, and many assumed it was the personalized presents that Chaeryoung was talking about in her messages. Yet, as pretty as they were, it was the price tag that was truly shocking.
When looking at both products online, Ryujin’s bag costs $2390 USD and Yeji’s retails at just over €1250 euros.
After the images were posted, netizens couldn’t get over just how generous IU was with ITZY’s gifts. They joked that she was their “rich mom” and how adorable it was that the members were showing off the presents from their respected senior artist.
Yet, IU’s generosity shouldn’t be surprising. In 2018, fellow JYP Entertainment group TWICE were guests at IU’s show. As a gift to them, IU gifted the members rings and also other expensive items like phones and shoes.
Although IU is one of the biggest idols in the world, she never stops caring about her junior artists. Whether it’s giving them the platform during her tour to perform or gifting them to show her gratitude for being guests, IU is truly an angel in K-Pop.
