On August 28 (local time), the 2022 MTV VMAs took place at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. BLACKPINK attended the red carpet and gave a performance of their pre-release single “PINK VENOM.”
BLACKPINK also snagged the award for Best Metaverse Performance for their PUBG collaboration “Ready For Love,” and member Lisa won Best K-Pop for her solo “LALISA.” In her acceptance speech, Lisa mentioned BLACKPINK’s fan club BLINK, sharing, “Thank you so much for making this happen!”
SEVENTEEN took home their first award at the VMAs through the Push Performance of the Year award with “Rock With You.“ In their video acceptance speech, SEVENTEEN’s Vernon shared, “It was a huge honor to be featured as the first K-pop artist for MTV Push and even a greater one to receive the Push Performance of the Year award.” Mingyu added, “Thank you VMAs, and thank you to our fans CARATs for all your love and support.”
Finally, BTS won Group of the Year, marking an impressive feat by taking home the award for the fourth consecutive year.
