K-pop Artists have won a lot of prizes

Some K-pop artists were awarded at the 2020 Asian Pop Music Awards in China. Continue reading to see if your favorite K-pop idols took home an award or not.

On Dec. 27, the Asian Pop Music Awards officially announced this year's winners through its official Weibo account, and many K-pop stars were mentioned as overseas winners under many categories. BLACKPINK claimed two awards at the said ceremony. First, BLACKPINK's "The Album" took home the "Best Album" award.

The girl group's first studio album was previously chosen as one of the "Best Albums of 2020" by Billboard and amongst the "albums that defined K-pop's monumental year in 2020" by TIME Magazine. Other than that, the quartet took home the "Best Female Group" award.

Meanwhile, the "Best Male Group" award (overseas) was given to EXO, thanks to the boy band's sixth studio album "OBSESSION," which is their last release as a group. EXO's Baekhyun also took home an award, specifically the "Best Male Singer" thanks to his second extended play titled "Delight."

Another K-pop soloist that won at the 2020 Asian Pop Music Awards is MAMAMOO's Hwasa, particularly, she received the "Song of the Year" award with her debut solo single "Maria." The track was also mentioned in TIME Magazine's list of songs and albums, which according to them defined K-Pop this year.

Soloist IU was also recognized at the said awards ceremony. She's got the "Best Lyricist" award for her seventh Korean-language extended play "Love Poem," in which the idol took part in composing some of the songs for the EP. Besides IU, WINNER's Song Minho got the "Best Producer" award for his second self-produced solo album titled "Take."

Furthermore, the "Best Music Video" of an abroad artist belonged to Red Velvet's "Psycho" MV. Besides, "Psycho," which serves as the title track for "The ReVe Festival: Finale," topped the "Best K-pop songs of 2020" list of Paper Magazine. The single is also included in the list of highest-ranking digital songs based on downloads and streaming of Gaon Chart, becoming the only idol group song that made it to the list.

R.Tee & 24, the one who produced BLACKPINK's "How You Like That" from the group's "The Album" also received an award at the 2020 Asian Pop Music Awards. R. Tee & 24 got the "Best Arranger" award. Two rookie groups that debuted this year in the K-pop scene claimed an award each. SM Entertainment's new girl group aespa is recognized as the "Best New Singer," while VINE Entertainment's new female act Secret Number got the "Outstanding Newcomer" title.

Apart from these, three categories of Asian Pop Music Awards are based on fans' votes. The "Outstanding Artist of the Year" included WINNER's Song Minho as well as female artists HyunA and Sunmi. Female K-pop groups Red Velvet and IZ*ONE are two of the "Outstanding Group of the Year." Meanwhile, for the "Outstanding Song of the Year" category, the K-pop tracks are IU's "Eight" featuring BTS's Suga, CL's "HWA," and Sunmi's "Pporappippam."
