Gaon Chart just released the latest list of K-pop groups and idols whose albums' cumulative sales are now officially certified million and platinum!

On June 10, the Korea Music Content Industry Association, a division that operates Gaon Chart, dropped various charts for the month of May.

One of Gaon Chart's sections includes the K-pop artists who will be given certification for successfully achieving a certain amount of album sales, streaming counts, and the number of downloads.

In particular, a new certification system was implemented in 2018, wherein an album that reached 250,000 cumulative sales will become certified platinum.

Meanwhile, a platinum certification for song downloads and online streaming counts will be given once an artist reaches 2.5 million downloads and 100 million streams, respectively.

EXO Baekhyun & SEVENTEEN Achieve a Million Certification

Prior to Baekhyun's military enlistment, the EXO member secured his "one-top solo" modifier. In March, he released his third mini-album, "Bambi," which not only captured fans' hears but broke records - and it made him earn the title "double-million seller."

During that month, Baekhyun's "Bambi" was also recognized by Gaon Chart as the "Best-selling album in March 2021." Just after its release, it dominated the chart with approximately 500,000 album shipments in Korea.

A week after its release then, Hanteo Chart confirmed that Baekhyun achieved 868,840 first-week album sales.

And now, he continues to prove his power after being certified million just two months after its release.

Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN, who is one of the representative third-gen groups of Korea, becomes a certified million-seller in May as well with their third full-length album, "An Ode."

"An Ode" is the third album released by SEVENTEEN to be awarded a million certification from Gaon, following the seventh mini-album, "Heng:garae" and the second special album, "Home; Run."

Fans are now focused on their upcoming eight mini-album, "Your Choice," which will be released on June 18.

ENHYPEN & IU Gain Double Platinum + ITZY, NCT, and More Attain Certified Platinum Albums

ENHYPEN's "BORDER: CARNIVAL" has been certified as double platinum with 500,000 cumulative album sales. The rookie group is a fourth-gen idol who took home both an album certification in Korea as well as in Japan's RIAJ - proving their monster-like influence.

As for those groups that achieved platinum certification, NCT's "RESONANCE Pt. 2 - The 2nd Album (Kit)", ASTRO's "All Yours", Kang Daniel's "YELLOW" and ITZY's "GUESS WHO" is now certified platinum with 250,000 copies.

IU Showcases Strong Fandom as the Only Artist that Achieved Streaming Certification this May 2021

On the other hand, IU continues to be the strongest music powerhouse as her track "Blueming" exceeded 200 million streaming counts and will receive double-platinum certification.

The song was released in November 2019 and swept various charts. IU also won the grand prize at the 35th Golden Disc Awards for "Blueming."
